Fisetin is a naturally occurring compound, specifically a flavonol, which is a type of polyphenol belonging to the broader flavonoid family. It acts as a natural pigment in many plants. Its chemical structure was first identified by Austrian chemist Josef Herzig in 1891.
This potent powder can be sourced from various botanical origins, including Acacia greggii, Acacia berlandieri, the vivid yellow dye known as young fustic obtained from Rhus cotinus (commonly called the Eurasian smoketree), Butea frondosa (also known as the parrot tree), Gleditschia triacanthos, Quebracho colorado, and other species within the Rhus genus. It is also found in Callitropsis nootkatensis (yellow cypresses).
