Royal jelly is a natural secretion from honey bees, serving as a vital nutritional source for developing honey bee larvae and, most notably, for the queen bee. It is produced by specialized glands in the heads of worker bees and then supplied to every larva within the bee colony. Significantly, the chambers of future queen bees are thoroughly provisioned with this substance to support their unique growth and development.
This intricate bee product, Royal Jelly, is composed of proteins, fatty acids, carbohydrates, vitamin A, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, folic acid, pantothenic acid, and inositol. It also contains a compound similar to acetylcholine, along with numerous essential amino acids and biological hormones crucial for human well-being.
Freeze-dried royal jelly powder is created through a vacuum and low-temperature drying process applied to refrigerated royal jelly. Typically, 3 kilograms of fresh royal jelly yield 1 kilogram of this powdered form. During this process, the concentration of royal jelly acid in the 1 kg of dried powder becomes three times that of 1 kg of fresh refrigerated royal jelly, as the acid content remains stable throughout drying. Under low-temperature vacuum conditions, the water in the royal jelly sublimes and separates, leaving behind moisture-free royal jelly which is then pulverized into a fine powder. This method ensures stable activity and a quality shelf life of up to 3 years, while also facilitating easy storage and transportation.
